My husband and I spend a great deal of time exploring the Texas Hill Country. It's another of the unique areas in our beautiful United States .... there is a rugged almost unexplored element that invades the imagination. In spite of a growing population, somehow the sense of space remains ... it's always about the space. You feel an overwhelming sense that past settlers are still with you, leading you along their many journeys through this vast countryside of rolling hills, densely tangled brush, majestic oaks, old settlements, and beautiful rivers alongside towering rock formations. These are among the many Texas subjects I love to paint.

My husband and I spend a great deal of time exploring the Texas Hill Country.  It's another of the unique areas in our beautiful United States ....  there is a rugged almost unexplored element that invades the imagination.  In spite of a growing population, somehow the sense of space remains ... it's always about the space.

There is an overwhelming feeling that past settlers are still with you, leading you along their many journeys through this vast countryside of rolling hills, densely tangled brush, majestic oaks, old settlements, beautiful rivers alongside towering rock formations.
....... and the ubiquitous herds of Hereford cows.  I photograph them endlessly, and always enjoy the sense of immortalizing them in my paintings.

"A Sisterdale Memory" ... SOLD!

11" x 14" Oil On Canvas Original Painting by Dianne Patula
SOLD!

Sisterdale is a small farming and ranching community in the Texas Hill Country established in 1847 by German pioneers.  Its quiet, peaceful atmosphere is punctuated by a small river that winds its way lazily through the area, and also by many timeworn oak and mesquite trees. These beautiful old friends tower over interesting structures now designated as historical landmarks.

Loving this tiny limestone building, the old oaks and mesquites surrounding it, I photographed the little scene in this painting several years ago.  I fervently hope next time through I'll find this charming scene unchanged.  In the meantime, here it is immortalized in my painting, "A Sisterdale Memory".
